100% exterior paint & refusal to fix it
Buyer beware. In March of 2023, a franchisee of Five Star Painting, also known as Matt Little and A Little Paint LLC, representing the huge conglomerate, gave us a quote to paint the exterior trim of our home. Not long after, he, operating as Matt Little, and his crew, Ismael Funez, also known as Funez Painting LLC, completed the work. This included the windows, doors, soffits (and all its related trim), the gutters, and downspouts. Within two weeks after completion, the paint began to chip off in chunks and continues to do so today, only in much larger chunks. It's so damaged that all the soffits, gutters, and downspouts have to be replaced, and of course, the windows and doors need to be scraped by hand to restore them to their original condition (if this is even possible) then repainted the appropriate way.
After speaking with two very experienced local Sherwin Williams Representatives and multiple experienced painting companies, we learned that all the proper procedures for painting vinyl, aluminum clad and exterior surfaces in general had not been maintained. This includes, appropriate pressure washing (with soap), adequate drying time after the completion of washing, no primer was used, and only one coat against the usually recommended two coats of paint was applied. It's also strongly suspected that all the surfaces were painted without them reaching the appropriate surface temperature of 50 degrees, which often happens in March in the Midlands.
For two years now, we have been trying to get Matt to step up and do the proper thing by fixing the mess we've inherited instead of taking him to court. We are not litigation-oriented people and choose to be good human beings who work out conflicts from person to person, outside the legal arena. We have also left several phone messages with Five Star Painting's headquarters to ask them to intervene and help us get the damage done to our home fixed. While we were assured every time that someone would call us back, so far, no one has.
To this date, Matt Little, who has since closed his painting business, and Ismael Funez, continue to point fingers of blame at one another, leaving us in the middle with a damaged exterior and a $25,000-$30,000 bill to get everything fixed, all while trying to prepare for our daughter's wedding at our house this summer. There are no words that can express the level and spectrum of emotions we have about the fact that someone can inflict this kind of damage and choose to simply shirk responsibility.

Yeah that little black guy who says he's the boss took my deposit had a couple of illegals show up paint 2 walls and left and never came back , then Jonah's never returned any calls , now I'm suing the toms river 5 star painting franchise, there all crooks

Truly the worst of the worst company out there. After a year of having these sorry *** in my house. I'm still paying people to clean up their mess.
Got ripped off by Five Star Painting. Also make sure to ask for legal papers of the people that will be working in your house. Only one person spoke English.

The worst. Not only are they expensive, they don’t finish the job they started or correct any mistakes. You have been warned.
Terrible job overall. Left a huge mess.
Our customer service rep lied to us about the quality of service we would receive.
He insisted he was sending their best guy, but their best guy didnt know how to paint unfortunately. Its my hope in the future that nobody else gets taken like we were.

Resolved: Bunch of crooks who fall short on delivering what they promised.
Company fixed the issue and I have been provided with apology. The only reason issue was somewhat resolved was because I threatened them with legal action.
I have never dealt with such unprofessional individuals.

This is by far the worst company I've ever dealt with. They subcontract the work to undocumented immigrants and take full advantage of them.
I ended up having to hire a handyman to correct and fix everything that was wrong. They subcontract everything out so that they can hold or deduct pay from these individuals, knowing they can't report them due to their undocumented status.
Luckily, I'm fluent in Spanish and was able to get a complete rundown on how this company operates. Unless you have plenty of time to babysit and know the right lawyer, I strongly recommend staying away from this sorry bunch.
Preferred solution: Nothing, just want these guys to never get a chance to rip another customer.

Horrible service
Never use this company, horrible customer service. They use some 3rd party company.
I scheduled an estimate, but nothing has come in, been days now. Called the call center, but they couldn't even get ahold of the company.

Unfair Pricing- Poor Quality- Poor Management
Took four weeks before we finally fired this company from an extensive exterior painting project on our home. Unreliable, extremely poor-quality work, no shows for job, long wait for replacement crews.
The owner of the company, Michael Nungesser- is rude, aggressive, short-fused and VERY dishonest. After we fired the company, we realized he was price gouging us for the cost of paint (we went to Sherwin Williams and got the receipt using the order number on the paint cans). He charged us 2x the amount paid for the paint stating "you are not entitled to my pricing that I have earned by purchasing millions of dollars worth of paint over the years". He did not like the fact that we were smart enough to go and get the receipt.
Same complaints as so many others have experienced.
Stay far away from this company. If things go wrong with your project- prepare to meet the wrath of the owner. We paid him to leave (way too much)- that is how bad we wanted them gone.
Money right out the window. I am certain he will locate this complaint and write some snarky, dishonest reply- that seems to be his m.o.

Five star painting did an awesome job removing old wallpaper, patching walls and painting. Staff was very respectful, on time every day and did a great job cleaning up st the end of the day.

Unsatisfactory workmanship and business relations
Brian with Five Star Painting was initially very pleasant and helpful. He assured me that the company could satisfy all our needs: remove popcorn ceilings in 4 BRs and basement area; paint 4 BRs and one powder room; reattach soffits on the outside of our house.
Problems: There was a long wait to get the popcorn ceiling tested, which means they didnt have adequate experience with this. Measurements and details had to be gathered multiple times, which means theyre very unorganized. No color consulting/sample swatches painted offered, which increases the likelihood of choosing the wrong colors (I did!). Even though I asked about the popcorn removal process, they did not give me thorough instructions or a good ides of the process, which means it was a huge mess that I did not anticipate!!
They used a subcontractor that didnt follow directions and wouldnt follow the work order, which means things were messy and did not get done. In the end I had a significant clean-up to do, was unhappy with the colors, texture and workmanship, and was never able to get them to complete the soffit work. And after all of that, he still wanted me to give a 5-star review!
Did I mention that on the first day of actual work, Brian showed up with a boot and scooter because of an injury? I knew I was doomed from that point on.

This review is for Five Star Painting of Woodstock and Kennesaw GA. I think your company does everybody an injustice by not clarifying the location.
My husband and I used Five Star Painting of Woodstock GA. three years ago.
The paint still looks fresh. They offer a fair price for yearly pressure washing to help sustain the paint.
Pissed Consumer does a poor job of clarifying what company is getting the bad review. So, I am giving Pissed Consumer a bad review because the information is faulty without the location.

Employee STOLE ITEM FROM MY HOUSE !
WARNING!!! We hired Five Star Painting from a friend's recommendation...
found out, they sub-contract and we were not assigned the same painter as my friend. This painter did a terrible job had to come back several times to fix the job...
to the point were they had to send a different crew!
The following day my son realized, that a very expensive pair of collectible NBA shoes was missing!!! We contacted the salemen (who finally took our call after over a month of trying to reach him), explained what happened and he promised that he would make it right...
MONTHS LATER, he finally returned our calls, and his answer was "STOP CALLING ME, YOU CAN CONTACT MY ATTORNEY"!!!
Do yourself a HUGE FAVOR, DO NOT HIRE THOSE GOONS!

Unhappy with the paint job thus far
Not happy with the workmanship. In a professional painting world, caulk around windows, if bulky or does not look smooth, should be scraped and recaulked.
The wood scraped was to be sanded and was not. The paint is already chipping and the job isn't finished. Things that I was told would be done, 5 star are now saying they can't do them or it is the homeowners responsibility. Broke part of my porch railing and didn't acknowledge it(yes it's still broken).
Lot's of money invested for a not so great job!!! Would NOT recommend this company to my worst enemy!!!

I hired this company to paint three rooms. This was the worst paint job I have ever endured.
The painters are not professional painters.
They did not remove the wall outlets before painting and there was paint on my table and on the light fixtures and the trim job is horrible. Never again!!!

Five Star Painting ruined my floors
Five Star Painting of *** GA ruined my flooring in my small business by dripping 1000s of splatters of white paint all over my specialty poured solid black rubber floors. It took them 2 months to get a removal crew out, and that crew didnt just remove paint they removed the floor with it. Now, I have even more issues than I started with and the owner (Scott Specker) has now gone radio silent with me.
